The project

What ?

A friend and I had thought to make a sort of "family tree" showing the development and variations of the reprap project (and it's inspired cousins), like this one http://www.levenez.com/unix/.

The goal : is to have a nice graphic and to print some sexy poster of it, maybe by pre-ordering a batch with the help of a kickstarter'like and then share it with the world.

At the moment we are mostly organizing the charts and trying some aesthetic concepts we had, from a simple visualization with pictograms to a machinable version ^^

I don't know what the license of the artwork will be now, probably a creative commons...

When ?

Our deadline : mid-June (cause it will be cool to display it for the opening of the http://fablabsquared.org/ during an event in Paris)

How can you help?

You're welcome to help us for eventual mistake in the order of appearance, or for the comparison of the machines spec; because these knowledges are spread around the wiki/Internet and it could be interesting to have that centralized (maybe on another page?). You can comment on the "discussion" of this page or on this thread : reprap family tree

The Reprap Family Tree v0.7

You can see/edit the diagram at https://cacoo.com/diagrams/wKA1saahe1vsKQjW (just take care of course)

As one can presume, since the Mendel the projects seems to flourish :)

Timeline v0.1

Another attempt trying to visualize the evolution of the reprap and some other printers over time.

I'm thinking about using or not the same color/meaning about the status of the project, searching how to accommodate everything...

Comparison table

We may add a comparison table of the different machines (for some spec) as a legend. RepRap - Tableau comparatif, just for the link, we need to refine that.
