Features
Uses an RC servo to drive it.
Uses parallelogram type Sarrus linkage.
Down sides
Needs position feedback. Options: 1. Linear strip and quadrature sensor (scavenged from inkjet printers). 2. Rotary optical encoder (from photo type inkjet printer) combined with trigonometric calculations. 3. Rotary magnetic encoder (AS5040 perhaps).
