Lessons learned building and refining a Mendel Prusa i3 Kit supplied by PRINTHATSHIT, Barcelona 2014. Opinions by a complete hack.. Printing ABS

HARDWARE:

- Crimp wire end connectors -soldering causes 599 error..

- Problems getting build plate up to max temp beyond 60ºC:

- Insulate build plate with High temp foam on underside

- Build enclosure box around machine.

-Result: Base plate @ 100ºC

FIRMWARE: Marlin -default setup, no issues.

SOFTWARE:

Pronterface =no fun at all.

Repetier = great interfacce and visalistion

G-CODER Slic3r =satisfactory starting point

Cura =superior for some models

Issues: finding a free G-coder that offered good support structure control.
