P3Steel Electronics and wiring
Choosing the electronics for your P3Steel
The recommended electronics for the P3Steel is the ubiquitous Arduino Mega 2560 + RAMPS 1.4 combination, used in exactly the same way as in many other Prusa i3 variants, but any controller complying to RIS 1a (since we want heated bed support) will work.
The Arduino Mega 2560 + RAMPS 1.4 + A4988 drivers + 80mm fan as used in this P3Steel make for a neat stack and this combination is very well documented in this wiki:
Another popular combination is an Arduino Mega 2560 + Ramps 1.4 + A4998 drivers + 80mm fan + 12864 graphics LCD controller. Note that the 80mm fan not only provides ample cooling for the stepper drivers and heatbed/extruder MOSFETs, but is also in general less annoying than the buzzing, puny 40mm fans.
The LCD 2004 Smart controller is also an effective option, here shown mounted on top of a P3Steel:
The Arduino Mega 2560 + RAMPS 1.4 stack can be used just sitting next to the P3Steel frame:
But a neater solution is to attach it to the P3Steel frame:
Wiring and Power Supply
To avoid duplicating the excellent information available in this wiki, check:
Prusa i3 Rework electronics and wiring page.
The wiring for the P3Steel is exactly the same as that for the Prusa i3 Rework (or any other Prusa i3 variant for that matter).
