The fit of a printed block like this one could be adjusted to fit in slotted square aluminum tube. The slots actually make up really easily at certain scales with a sheet metal nibbler in gages less than 0.062 inch wall but miilling would suffice and a Bateson, the intended use, could conceivably mill the slots, Once fitted and on a leadscrew through the hole, the ball end contrains only 2 of 6 DoF on a mating part.
