Hello, trying to add my company to filament manufacturer list, it does not allow me to on account of being a new user:) What is the wait period and is there a way to expedite it?

-ABG

Hi - your webcam link doesn't appear to be working so I've removed it. When It's going, let me know the URL and I'll put it back in.

- Adrian

The link still works for me, its a Java applet so it took a while to load the first time. What do you see when you go to that page? Is it a 404 for you? --TheOtherRob 21:54, 11 November 2009 (UTC)

Template

Rob, I'm trying to create generic project templates. I'll try not to step on your toes. -Sebastien

np, let me know if I can help.. also, after noticing your syopedness, do you think you could unlock some of the wiki pages or give me admin rights to edit them?
shortlist of pages i'd like to edit for templates or just to bring up to date:
  • Main Page - so that it can be brought up to date/made to look more shiny (is the plan to eventually switch the main site to this home page?)
  • Darwin and all it's children (so that it can be given a template similar to Mendel)
Cheers,

Ping! You're now a 'Sysop' and 'RepRapDeveloper', via Special:Userrights. Don't use your powers for evil.  :) Also 'RepRapDeveloper' != the 'People who have been ordained and can post on the super-secret reprap mailing list', which is kind of silly, as we're going to run into scaling laws, and eventually have to hive off into working groups. No matter. When you have a chance, email me (penguin at supermeta dot delete-this-spam-bait-chunk dot com) with your meatspace name and 10 word bio, if that's ok? I like to know who's who, especially as I'm one of the primary 'keyholders' for this system.

Main Page - Thanks! Please do it in Main Page/Sandbox before rolling it over to the true Main Page. I might be hacking on some tweaks in Main Page/Sandbox/SebastienBailard, maybe.

Regarding transitioning from twiki->mediwiki, I need to set up a test server to verify we can restore from backup, and then we can transfer the twiki pages using {wget twiki -> using a tweaked perl filter script -> upload bot}. I need to work hard on user interface and social networking issues so that users want to upload their changes, files, museum artifacts, extruder improvements, frog-scans, etc. to the wiki.

I've got a long list of tweaks we need. I'll dig it up tomorrow.

I'm also trying to find some Information Science / Library System Architects. Along with trusted sysadmins, and random test-server hacker/sysadmins.

Re: Darwin - Sounds good. Let me hack up Template:Project and we can extend it to Darwin and Mendel templates.

What do you think about adding the reference and/or tutorials categories to the mediawiki sidebar, and removing the random page and all pages links? I also don't think the blog of blogs works. i don't have the rights.--Buback 19:54, 5 November 2010 (UTC)

Good point, I'm pretty sure the plan had been to replace the Blog of Blogs with Planet RepRap so I will add that to my next round of sidebar/main page modifications. I didn't even know we had a Category:Tutorials or Category:Reference! I'm not sure they belong in the sidebar but they definitely need a place in the overarching navgiational layout of RepRap.org. This will need some thought.. --TheOtherRob 20:21, 5 November 2010 (UTC)

Rob, I was directed to you (see Talk:Mendel/Files) by User:Sebastien_Bailard to ask about getting CAD files (SW 2009, .x_t, or .STEP) for Mendel (Prusa or otherwise). I'd like it for reference for my own build, and to use it as a basis for future development as well. Any assistance you can provide would be appreciated, and returned to the greater community. Thanks. --Nether10 14:25, 11 January 2011 (UTC) that

Mendel (original) files are here in a variety of formats: Mendel_solid_model_files
Prusa Mendel files are here in openscad only: [1]
All info about both machines can be found under the "build a RepRap" link in the left navigation.

ohhhh, you want step/sw specifically. Ok, nope your SOL in that case. Sorry dude, this stuff is constantly evolving, it takes a non-negligible amount of work to remake designs in sw and so far as I know no one has had time to do that in a long time. --TheOtherRob 08:26, 12 January 2011 (UTC)
Yup, that's why I pointed him at Kronecker Delta since it's being done up in SW2010-ish. Not that that Delta is ready to release into the wild but ... ? --Sebastien Bailard 09:13, 12 January 2011 (UTC)
...and I have SolidWorks, and am willing to put in the non-negligible amount of time, but I need a starting point, be that component drawings, an IGES/STEP/.X_T assembly, or some combination thereof. I did find a .STEP assembly for Mendel, so I might just start with that. Thanks anyways. --Nether10 12:16, 12 January 2011 (UTC)

main page tweaks

Dear TheOtherRob,

Following the procedure at Talk:Main Page, I made a few tweaks to Main Page/Sandbox that may or may not be actual improvements, and now I'm asking you to review those changes and update the actual Main Page with whichever changes (-: if any :-) you think are improvements. Thank you for keeping this running. --DavidCary 19:38, 16 January 2011 (UTC)

Hi, Rob. I'm new in the rep rap project, I've just created a wiki account, the username is Tucho. I'd like to change it, to follow the Clone Wars group ' rules. The desired one is 'AmoralesCV'. Is it possible? or if not, is it possible to 'discard' the first one ('Tucho'), in order to create the second one ('AmoralesCV')? Thank you in advance. And I'hope don't disturb you in any way. Kind regards. Alberto.

Hi Alberto,
I don't have the permissions necessary to do that (and also haven't actively admin'd this wiki in years) but if you contact one of the beurocrats you should be able to get that resolved: http://reprap.org/mediawiki/index.php?title=Special:ListUsers&group=bureaucrat
Thank you very much, Rob.
Not even admins can join or delete accounts. The only thing you can do is to continue with the new one and forget about the old one. --Traumflug 12:09, 4 June 2013 (UTC)

reCaptcha

Hi -- Two quick things 1) the reCaptcha for this site is being shut down 3.31.2018 (with a quick look you seem to be the person to contact - apologies if I am wrong - just point me in the right direction). 2) Could I request to turn the recaptha off for my account? - I would like to start porting all of my research group's RepRap development work here from Appropedia.org and use this site as our core for future work - but as it stands now doing recapthas with every edit makes this unacceptably time consuming. Any help in this regard would be most appreciated. Thanks -- J.M.Pearce (talk) 21:41, 21 March 2018 (PDT)
