How to Print RepRapPro Tricolour

Introduction

This page describes how to print the parts for RepRapPro's Tricolour Mendel and Mono Mendel. The parts needed are the same for each. The only difference is that a Mono Mendel will only need one extruder drive (follow this link for how to print that) whereas a Tricolour Mendel will need three.

Design files you will need

To print the printed parts for the extruder drive you need the files that are on Github here: https://github.com/reprappro/Mendel. To get all the files click the

download button on that page.

Unzip the resulting file somewhere on your computer and move to the folder .....Mendel/Print-mendel/Individual-STLs. There you will find the files:

Printing a Mono or Triclolour Mendel

As you can see above, the file names have the number of each item off that you need to print to make one RepRapPro Mendel incorporated in their names.

This pictures show the parts arranged in two sets (or trays) on the build bed of a RepRapPro Mono or Tricolour Mendel, but you can print them individually or in groups on virtually any 3D printer. (The only printers known not to work are Z Corp powder printers - their parts are too weak.) On A RepRap or similar FFF-type printer you can print the parts with a nozzle of 0.5mm diameter or finer. The only exception are the two pulleys, which need an 0.3mm or finer nozzle.

The pictures above show the core set of parts that you always need. In addition you can print a power-supply cover and - if you don't have access to a laser cutter - the files starting with the word "optional". If you do have a laser cutter the .dxf files for the laser-cut equivalents to the optional-to-print parts are in a folder called dxf in the main root folder. The hardware-only kits for both Mono and Tricolour Mendel from RepRapPro Ltd contain the laser-cut parts, so - if you are using that - you don't need to print the optional parts.
