Cmchap, I'd suggest building one of these WolfStrap-English or Eiffel and using these with it: Pololu_Electronics. Based on my sense of RepRap's culture, you're not going to see people chip in USD5K, I'm afraid. You may be able to get a donation of a printhead quite easily if you're building an WolfStrap.
