regarding "safer" with mosfets, they frequently fail short circuit in over-temperature conditions. their other advantages still make them better than relays though. - Triffid Hunter

Order of Soldering Components

I haven't finished soldering my board, but I found it incredibly frustrating to follow the directions and find myself having to reach over, under, and through components I'd already soldered on to get to the next component. While people who are good with a soldering iron might have minimal trouble with the existing arrangement, my shoddy soldering which requires me to redo the top because I couldn't get the solder down the hole and the current order are a nightmare. -Cov 15:00, 1 May 2011 (UTC)

I moved the reset switch and green terminals to the bottom of the list, and I think that basically makes the list inside-to-outside. -Cov 15:17, 1 May 2011 (UTC)

Heatbed terminal overheating - fire risk warning?

RAMPS 1.4 is the most popular reprap control board, however its not being made clear enough how much of a design flaw there is with the heatbed connection. The forums are littered with reports of fires, melting and burning smells, with the often recommended solution to switch to an external mosfet board.

I've added this as a section to the troubleshooting section however personally given how much of a risk this makes the 1.4 it really should be made very clear that its got a flaw that is without doubt a fire hazard.

Thoughts? Personally I think we need an alert box at the top of the page, and if need be link it to a new ramps 1.4 known issues and troubleshooting page (happy to write this). --rickm (talk) 03:16, 19 July 2018 (EDT)
